IRVINE, CA -- Today, Republican Secretary of State candidate Don Wagner reacted to news of an error in the California Voter Guide issued by Secretary of State Shirley Weber that will cost California taxpayers millions of dollars. The inaccurate guide was mailed to over 23 million voters. Weber’s office is now forced to mail voters a postcard correcting her error.
“California’s voters deserve accurate information from their Secretary of State. Taxpayers deserve an election system that is efficient and cost-effective. Shirley Weber fails on both counts," said Wagner. “Weber seems more interested in fighting with the Department of Justice and blocking common sense reforms like voter ID, than in doing the job she was elected to do.
"As Secretary of State, I will run a secure, fair and efficient election process that provides voters with accurate information and counts votes in a timely manner.”
As a former State Assembly Member, Irvine Mayor, College Board Trustee, and Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Don Wagner has a distinguished career of public service and a well-earned reputation as a straight-shooter, fiscal watchdog and champion for working families, small businesses, first responders and veterans of our armed services.
Don and his wife, Megan, are longtime residents of Orange County. Don received his Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA and his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.
